Comprehensive sterilization of the pyramid’s antiquities area to prevent corona virus
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities began the work of sterilization and disinfection of the pyramid’s antiquities area, to protect and prevent the repercussions of the new Corona virus (covid-19). Ashraf Mohieddin, Director General of the Pyramid Monuments Region, said that the sterilization and disinfection work was carried out in accordance with international standards for disinfection procedures and using approved materials From the Ministry of Health and Population, noting that the sterilization work included the visitors’ reception hall, X-Ray devices, the box office of the archaeological area, restrooms, the entrance to the entire archaeological area, and the roads leading to it, in addition to sterilizing the wooden walkway in front of the Great Pyramid and the spaces that can be reclined Ali Here the public and seating areas visitors and other places in contact with the human being.
Mohiuddin added, that protection and sterilization tools, including gloves, masks and disinfectants, were distributed to all workers, and sterilization of the rest of the region is underway.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities carried out sterilization and disinfection works for archaeological areas in Upper Egypt, and Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that sterilization and disinfection works included the archeological sites of Kom Ombo, Abu Simbel, Jabal Al-Silsilah, Aswan Governorate, Dandara Qena, Karnak Temples, Luxor, Habu City, and Hatshepsut The city monastery and the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, and the rest of the areas will be completed in succession.
